Quran’s Leadership Style
23 August 2023

It's funny when I come across mocking nonbelievers, who criticize the afterlife mocking practiced by the patient believers, as mentioned in Quran 83:34 that says:

"So today (afterlife) those who have attained faith are laughing at the unbelievers (who mocked believers in this life)"

Obviously, this verse and chapter bothers the mocking unbelievers. It seems, they want to mock believers without getting mocked. It seems, when they do it to believers it’s nice and right, but when believers do it to them in the afterlife, its ugly and wrong. It is really funny!

I need to explain Quran’s justified position to the believers and the peaceful unbelievers. In doing so, I need to compare Quran’s leadership style to that of the most reputable corporates in the modern time and compare how they deal with the infidels. Yes, my dear reader, even corporates have to deal with corporate infidels!

Our fool proof example is on page 47 of a beautiful leadership book titled “Monday Morning Mentoring” by David Cottrell, who justifies the termination of the Falling Star employees (corporate infidels) when he says:

“If they (corporate employees) know the acceptable code of behavior, the performance expectations, and the consequence for nonperformance, then they have (the corporate infidels) made the choice for you (the leader) to move forward (and terminate them)”. I couldn't have said it better!

When an employee makes an informed decision to violate a corporate code, the corporate leadership will simply comply and respect his decision and his choice. The corporate will ultimately ‘reward’ such an employee by applying the stipulated punishment that he chose for himself (termination), as per the code that he consciously decided to violate. This is a decent leadership style followed by all reputable corporates in the modern time, even if the Falling Star employees (corporate infidels) object to it, just as our mocking unbelievers object to Quran’s leadership style. Violation of codes have consequences.

The above modern and decent corporate leadership style is identical to Quran’s decent leadership style that mockers ignorantly criticize, as stipulated in the very last verse of the same chapter, being Quran 83:36 that says:

“Have the infidels ˹not˺ been rewarded for what they used to do?”

As in the case of the reputable and modern corporates, those who knowingly choose to violate the acceptable Islamic code of behavior, the performance expectations, and the consequence for nonperformance, then they have made the choice for Allah (the master of the Day of Judgment) to move forward and “award” them the punishment that they chose for themselves.

Islam deals with infidels as reputable corporates deal with corporate infidels, and the unbeliever mocker’s opinion does not matter to Allah, as the opinion of corporate infidels don’t matter to the modern corporate leadership. One can’t expect to get away with his informed decisions and violating acts unless he repents. As per the codes, and for the time being, the mocking unbelievers can freely continue mocking and laughing at believers, and believers in turn will do the same to them in the afterlife, and that’s absolutely decent and fair.

Last but not least, lets read together the following authentic and beautiful Hadith, which is self-explanatory and bothersome to such mockers:

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘No one of you disputes more intensely for something that is rightly his in this world, than the believers will dispute with their Lord for their brothers who have entered the Fire. They will say: ‘Our Lord, our brothers used to pray with us and fast with us, and perform Hajj with us, and you have sentenced them to the Fire?’ He (Allah) will say: ‘Go and bring forth whomever you recognize among them.’ So, they will go to them, and will recognize them by their appearances. Among them will be those who have been seized by the Fire up to the middle of their shins, and some among them those whom it has taken up to his ankles. They will bring them forth, then they will say: ‘Our Lord, we have brought forth those whom You commanded us (to bring forth).’ He (Allah) will say: ‘Bring forth everyone in whose heart is faith the weight of a Dinar.’ Then He (Allah) will say: ‘Everyone in whose heart is faith the weight of half a Dinar,’ until He (Allah) will say: ‘In whose heart is faith the weight of the smallest speck.’” Abu Sa’eed (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Whoever does not believe this, let him read the Verse: ‘Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills’ up to ‘a tremendous (sin).’” Sunan an-Nasa’i 5010.

If I were in the place of such mockers, I would apologies to myself!

I pray to Allah to guide and grant them and their loved ones, the best of this life and the life after. Amen!
