Burning Qur’an
27 April 2020

Dear Sam,

Why burn Qur'an?

Why burn a self-critical book?

I thought burning books was barbaric!

How could an intellectual person and a philosopher, such as you, consider burning a book a fundamental right to free speech?

Are you suggesting that people could burn libraries as their fundamental right to free speech?

Burning Qur'an is equivalent to the tragic burning of the 16th century Italian philosopher Giordano Bruno for his dogmatic and stubborn adherence to his then unorthodox beliefs, including the ideas that the universe is infinite and that other solar systems exist.

Burning of Qur'an is equivalent to the burning of the House of Wisdom library and its contents in the Siege of Baghdad in 1258, by Mongols

If you wish, burn Qur'an with logic. In fact, Qur'an invites you and challenges you to do that.

"Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction." Qur'an 4:82

Do you seriously consider a self-critical book that calls for reflection and searching for its contractions dogmatic?!!!

I thought philosophers could see so deep and bring out many colours from the black other than the black.

I thought you guys could see the light in the dark?

Did I think wrong?

Or maybe your dogmatic and stubborn adherence to beliefs against Islam and Qur'an is holding you from doing so by putting a seal on your eyes,  ears and mind.

"Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment." Qur'an 2:7

That's sad Sam!

Before criticising Qur'an and Islam's pununative system, just look how your 20th century enlightened's approach to drugs drastically changed in the recent history. We now see drugs being sold in the streets of most of the western countries after decades of fierce fighting drugs, drug addicts and drug dealers. Who knows, in 50 years time the enlightened may again opt for emprisonment as punishment for those dealing with drugs.  The experiment will go on in circle.

This huge shift in dealing with drugs should only make you humble by honouring the past instead of trashing it. This is all you need to know.

By the way Sam, did I tell you that your knowledge of Islam and Qur'an is superficial?

That's embarrassing Sam!
