The second lesson starts by clarifying a misconception that Allah misguides people to astray. Its done by giving to distinct examples.
First Example:
“Their example is that of one who kindled a fire, but when it illuminated what was around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness [so] they could not see. Deaf, dumb and blind - so they will not return [to the right path].” AL-BAQARAH 17 and 18
In the aforementioned two verses, Allah the Almighty gives an example explaining the psychological state of the infidels mentioned in the following 2 verses:
“Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe. Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment” AL-BAQARAH 6 and 7
Verses 17 and 18 offer an accurate example of the “Journey to Guidance” and the search for the straight path of people living in the darkness of delusion. When the best among them strives to enkindle a fire that illuminates what is around him. That is the prophet Mohammed may peace and blessing of Allah be upon him enlightened by the Qur'an which is a book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah and undoubtedly a gift to the believers. The prophet then resumes the journey to guidance, enlightened by the light of the Qur'an. Those who follow him continue enjoying the light and those who abstain will remain in the darkness. God did not mislead the infidels when he took away the light and left them, but they were the ones who decided to stop following the light and opted to stay in the dark. Thus, the unbelievers leave the light of the Qur'an and seek the truth in darkness, and they have that, as there is no compulsion in religion, and their transparency is appreciated as long as they are peaceful and cohabiting.
Second Example:
“Or [it is] like a rainstorm from the sky within which is darkness, thunder and lightning. They put their fingers in their ears against the thunderclaps in dread of death. But Allah is encompassing of the disbelievers. The lightning almost snatches away their sight. Every time it lights [the way] for them, they walk therein; but when darkness comes over them, they stand [still]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.” AL-BAQARAH 19 to 20
Here, Allah the Almighty follows up the previous example with another accurate example. It is new and completely different, but it completes the first one, by explaining the psychological conditions of hypocrites and their deception, lies, corruption and betrayal, as described in the following verses.
“And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah and the Last Day," but they are not believe. They [think to] deceive Allah and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves and perceive [it] not. In their hearts is disease, so Allah has increased their disease; and for them is a painful punishment because they [habitually] used to lie. And when it is said to them, "Do not cause corruption on the earth," they say, "We are but reformers." Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not. And when it is said to them, "Believe as the people have believed," they say, "Should we believe as the foolish have believed?" Unquestionably, it is they who are the foolish, but they know [it] not. And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We believe"; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, "Indeed, we are with you; we were only mockers." [But] Allah mocks them and prolongs them in their transgression [while] they wander blindly. Those are the ones who have purchased error [in exchange] for guidance, so their transaction has brought no profit, nor were they guided.” Al-BAQARAH 8 to 16
The new example depicts the psychological state of hypocrites, who have not hesitated to follow the light publicly, as the infidels did, but have joined the enlightened in his journey to Guidance. But they are disillusioned by their prone to evil souls, suffering a great deal of distress, anxiety, fear, naivetes and hesitation. They are far from being on a “Journey of Guidance” and much like those who live on a terrifying adventure. They are a dangerous and harmful layer of infidels with a great deal of cowardice or malice, for fear or danger to confront the Prophet, caused by their lack of boldness or logic.
How not, when their journey is always in darkness, rain, thunder, lightning and the deadliest of sounds. How silly, when they illuminate with lightning, yet siege from it with fingers in their ears. Allah the Almighty wishes to let them go through their tragedy without comforting them with death or scandal. Likewise, we remain silent about them and judge them with their appearance and defer their accounting for Allah the Almighty, if they are peaceful and coexisting.
Allah the Almighty, does not seek to mislead people, but seeks to guide them, seek excuses for them, and does not torture those who have not received the message or received it distorted. Allah the Almighty is dispensable of our faith and disbelief. He has created us with free well and no compulsion. But Allah the Almighty tests us, he guides whoever succeeds and strays whoever fails. And the decision is in the first and last of us, and we determine our destiny by our actions. Allah the Almighty accepts our results as they are, good or bad, he guides and strays by tests, as is the case with university students. The professor evaluates the students' performance, and then decides the success of some and the fall of others, and he records all the results, good or bad. And whoever works must succeed, and those who neglect must fail, knowing that the professor can fail or succeed everyone if he wishes.
In summary, whoever wants to be guided by Allah the Almighty, he will be and whoever wants to be strayed by the Allah Almighty, he will be, and the world is a test house. Allah the Almighty guides whoever he wants with his wisdom, as he sentenced a woman to hell for starving a cat to death and granted a whore the paradise for quenching a thirsty dog.
“[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving “AL-MULK 2
Praise to Allah the Almighty, for this noble religion that calls for coexistence with infidel’s ignorance and hypocrite’s malice.
I accepted Allah the Almighty as my creator and Muhammad, may peace and blessing of Allah be upon him, as his messenger and Islam as a religion.
The second class of the first course is over.
I place you in Allah the Almighty’s trust, whose trust is never misplaced.
