I read an article this morning for someone who is obsessed with criticizing Quran and embarrassing himself, titled: Does Quran Explain the Bible?
He said:
“Even when Jewish Apocalypticism developed during the Hellenistic period, the general notion was that the wicked would simply cease to exist, while the righteous would be resurrected into the Kingdom of God on Earth. Nothing coming anywhere near the descriptions of afterlife in the Qur’an. So how is that the Qur’an confirms the Torah, when the most crucial part of the message is absent? Did God forget to mention this fundamental message?”
Now, the answer to his questions is in Quran chapter 2 (Al-Bakarah) verse 80 that describes the simplistic Jewish concept of ‘after life’, as follows:
˹They (Jews) claim, “The Fire will not touch us except for a number of days.” Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Have you taken a pledge from Allah — for Allah never breaks His word — or are you ˹just˺ saying about Allah what you do not know?”
So, as we can see, that Allah did not forget to mention the fundamental Jewish belief in the ‘after life’ in the Quran, as suggested by the troubled writer, but it is the writer who overlooked the Quran due to his ignorance!
Quran does confirm what used to be in the original Old and New testaments before getting corrupted. However, Quran also accurately informs (as in 2:80 above) about what Jews and Christians believed during Prophet Mohamed’s (ﷺ) era.
I wasted 6 minutes of my time reading his 3 minutes article twice, because Quran that he keeps abusing with his ignorance, requires me as a Muslim to be fair with enemies of Quran (such as him). Read if you wish chapter 5 verse 8:
“O believers! Stand firm for Allah and bear true testimony. Do not let the hatred of a people lead you to injustice. Be just! That is closer to righteousness. And be mindful of Allah. Surely Allah is All-Aware of what you do.”
As it appears my dear reader, the problem is that the writer is not just. Thus, if I were him, I would apologies to myself!
In this article of his, as in every article that I have so far read for this writer, the problem is not in the Quran/Islam but it’s in his mind. He is yet to learn that if he sees a problem in the Quran/Islam, it doesn't necessarily mean that the Quran/Islam is problematic. He is also yet to learn that if he sees no answers to his questions in the Quran/Islam, it does not necessarily mean that there are no answers to such questions.
Please don't get me wrong, as I find asking questions being a crucially healthy behavior for the truth to prevail. But in doing so, one needs to set his soul free from biases, by exhausting all means of searching and verifying, before posting a criticism.
So he may keep on writing. After all, it’s a free ride in this free world. I will also continue, though, to read and comment on his articles until he succeeds to write/criticize something and anything that I could value and agree on.
I pray to Allah to grant him and his loved ones the best of this life and the life after. Amen!
