British appointed a Hindu over the Muslim majority Kashmir to devide and rule. They sparkled it and others continue lighting it.
Referendum is the right solution.
Kashmiris shall decide their own future, be it with India or Pakistan or totally independent. Exactly what happened with Christian majority East Timor when a referendum supervised by United Nations resulted in its separation from the Muslim majority Indonesia, ending decades of bloodshed.
But for various reasons, Kashmiris are cursed and are not as lucky as East Timor.
I think they need to do STAR (stop, think, act and review), that's what nuclear professionals do when facing obstacles.
Kashmiris require to bravely evaluate the effectiveness of their current 70 years long resistance. They need to consider all other options before deciding way forward.
Kashmir conflict requires brave solutions. It needs a wise and brave leader such as prophet Mohamed, may peace and blessing of Allah be upon him, to assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats before deciding what to do, leaving aside all emotions.
Muslims in Kashmir are the majority. I believe Kashmiris have much better chances if they change their armed struggle with the Indian government to a more smart, peaceful and democratic one. Through voting ballots, they could very much control their destiny and internal affairs.
Radical Hindus are hopping that the current armed struggle continues. Radical Hindus will use this excuse to suppress the majority. They will in short time change the region to a Hindu majority. Kashmiris through smart and peaceful resistance could fail such evil plans.
In fact, both India and Pakistan want to control Kashmir for economical reasons. Both use religious and national narratives to gain support. Business men on both sides are the real warlords.
Kashmiris have bravely rejected indian (Hindu) dominance. But they haven't achieved much. They have suffered and caused alot of brutality.
I believe in armed struggle when it is effective as prophet Mohamed did, may peace and blessing of Allah be upon him. But he resorted to violence when he had no other options. Prophet Mohamed never turned down other non violent options. Specifically, he was never suicidal. Migration to medina and Hudaubiah treaty with Mecca infidels are two examples.
Nowadays, Muslim prefer suicidal options. Muslims nowadays consider any option other than fighting a disgrace and shame. Diplomacy is considered weakness, which is wrong and against prophet Mohamed's teachings. But l am not surprised with this phenomenon, as when you study about Hudaibiah treaty, you will find that vast majority of muslims (sahabah, prophet's companions) back then were against it. Sahaba wanted to fight, something that prophet Mohamed didn't want at all. It took few years of patience to prove prophet Mohamed's nonviolent approach right.
When dealing with such sensitive issues, we should think with our mind not emotions and we should target long term gains instead of short term. Safeguarding Muslim and non Muslim lives and honor as a result of peaceful resistance is a huge short term gain and should not be under estimated.
Referendum remains to be the best option.
Focus on economy
